I replaced mine a couple of months ago and it took me over 3 hours!!! The convertible is just a little cramped so you better have small hands.... The DIY procedures were very helpful as well as the instructions that came with the replacement filter.

Here's a tip... I discovered that the key to the whole thing is to remove the passenger Air Vent pipe; otherwise, there's no way to get to the filter.

Hope this helps... you'll love the airflow once you finish.

Does the airflow really increase a noticeable amount after the filter change? My '95 vert blows really weak in all settings, heat and a/c. I think it must be the filter, but I don't want to spend 3 hours doing it if it doesn't help. I've only had the car a few months, so I don't know if the filter has ever been changed. Any other possibilities for weak air flow? Thanks,
Derek

Id start with the cabin filter, most BMW owners dont even realize the 3 series had one??? So start there, its not that hard to do!! If that doesnt help you might have an actator door motor or door stuck somewhere!!

I noticed a significant increase in airflow after I changed the microfilter... no regrets on spending that much time replacing it. The filter I removed was completely "BLACK", filled with all kinds of dirt, etc... no wonder the airflow was terrible.
