BMW 330e reviews?

I'm looking into getting a 2017 330e but I wanted to get reviews from current 330e owners and if they have any advice, reviews, etc. that can help shape my decision for this car. Anything will help! Thanks!

I had a 2016 330e and I had a lot of battery problems. By the time BMW decided to replace the entire battery pack, I had already agreed to sell it back to BMW. I then ordered and got a 530e (loaded). The 530e is now 20 months old and has been rock solid. Not a single issue.

The key issue is how you drive, your access to charging, and what you are seeking. I like to drive in a spirited manner but also I am aware of the environment and the damage that ICEs cause to it. I am also semiretired and work mostly from home (although my office, when I bother to go to it, is 20 miles away) and have a 240v charger in my garage so I have the ability to recharge during the day (a full recharge takes 1 hour 55 minutes). So when I am doing local driving, I mostly do it in pure EV mode. When I have the ability to open it up, then I use auto made and enjoy the power. On a 12.4 gallon tank, I have been getting between 700 and 900 miles per tank.

There is adequate power although I would always wish for more. The car handles fairly well but you can feel the additional weight. If you do lots of highway driving over long distances, then the 330e may not be for you. You don't get a lot of benefit on highway driving from the hybrid. I don't recharge except at home because it takes too long on the road and there is always an immediate charge which makes no sense for me.

The biggest benefit for me is the ability to use the phone app to start the HVAC. I live in hot Arizona and if I am playing golf in the summer, the car will be sitting in 100+ temperatures for five or more hours. So I take out my phone after the 17th hole and start up the AC. By the time I get to the car it is very comfortable. A wonderful feature.

Benzboy10, I drove a MY 2016 F30 330e at a BMW dealership event that year. Other than the fact that it didn't have a manual transmission, I liked it a lot. Transitions between gasoline engine and electric motor propulsion were seamless. Driving dynamics were similar to the F30 320i I own, though 330e felt heavier (no surprise, as the 330e curb weight is 650 lbs greater).

Car and Driver's article pretty sums up my opinion of F30 330e - they stated the "330e is a sparkling performer".

Another thing. My 530e doesn't have stop/start. It just stays in crawl mode with the electric motor; I assume that the 330e does the same but I don't remember from my 2016 model. I also love the ACC.

What I didn't love, and it is not unique to the 330e, is the BMW Dakota leather. Having had it and disliking it in the 330e, I went for the Nappa leather on my 5 series. I believe that the only options on the 3 series are BMW fake leather, Dakota leather or Merino as an individual order. If I couldn't get the Merino, I would go for the fake leather. But, again, this has nothing to do with being a phev, just a BMW thing.

That's good to hear that it has a smooth transition and that does help!

Oh I see, is there a specific reason that you didn't like the Dakota leather? Is that the red leather by any chance?

It doesn't feel like leather to me. Too harsh and plasticky. World of difference with the Nappa. I did have the red leather but my problem wasn't the color; it was the material.
