2015 328i, fuel economy

Hello, i recently bought a 2015 328i which has 11k miles and is in good condition and i have driven almost 600miles around 300 in city and 300 highway miles... I reset the fuel economy last time i filled it up and it is almost about to end now and my fuel economy is showing as 14.5 for around 200 miles of which 80% is city and 20 % highway my average speed is 16mph... My questions are:

1. Is this kind of fuel economy common
2. Does 328i required premium gas

Can some one help me out

No that fuel economy is not normal

And, yes it requires minimum 91. It should say on gas cap!

Welcome to Bimmerfest, Nightmare437!

1.) 14.5 mpg seems rather low for the conditions that you described. On my 2014 320i (same N20 engine as 328i, but with a lower max power rating), the trip computer shows 38.5 mpg average for about 2,200 miles of driving. Proportion is about 50% urban/suburban/rural, 47% freeway, and 3% autocross and other track use, with an average speed of 36 mph. I use SPORT mode exclusively in DDC. I just did a road trip from Memphis to Washington, D.C. using scenic routes, Blue Ridge Parkway in particular, which probably contributed to low average speed. (see attached photo)

2.) 89 AKI gasoline is the required fuel for 328i. I don't know if that's labeled "premium" where you drive. In the U.S. South, it's usually labeled "midgrade".

really could be that low if driving at 15 mph all day. At that level of congestion, you are in a lot of stop and go driving nearing the worst end of the spectrum for fuel economy.

Use Premium fuel, check your tire pressures, consider changing your air filter, consider using eco-pro.

Yep, short tripping will do that.

I drove short trips for work averaging 23 mph and average 21-22mpg with a light foot. So with an average of 15mph I can believe that.
