Oil Change Interval on iDrive

When I decode the VIN on either of our X4s (see sig) they indicate an "Oil Change Interval" of 15,000km (=9,320 miles). My local dealer recently did a (paid) oil change on the 28i and iDrive was reset to 7,000 miles.

Q: Can the dealer choose what mileage is shown when oil change is reset? (I doubt it).

Q: What is your experience with the reset value of either model?

I am pretty sure the dealer reset the M40 to 10,000 miles a while back when I had my first oil change. Has something changed?
His: 2017 X4 M40i - Glacier Silver with all the options (except cold weather stuff) - not needed in SoCal
Hers: 2015 X4 28i - Glacier Silver - loaded M-Sport

Oil change intervals.

Hi I'm just as confused as you. I got a new X4 M40i 15th July. On the odo message it says first service 30,000 k ? Not even a 1000 or 1500 k one ? I questioned the salesman and he confirmed it ? I will have an oil and filter change and pay myself I'm not worried about that at 2 or 3000 kilos, even though I get free services for 3 yrs.
