e46 330ci - Left Rear Panel - Repair or Replace

Someone reversed into my car and damaged the left rear panel and door.

I have received two quotes, one to repair the panel ($2145) and the other to replace it ($4512). From what the repairs shops have told me, the replacement panel is going to be difficult to come by and they feel it can be repaired.

Firstly do you think it is possible to repair the panel?

Secondly, taking into account the costs and the viability of repairing the panel would you get it repaired or replaced?

Lastly we can see the damage on the panel but is there anything else you would look for that may be hidden behind the panel?

I know the damage appears to be skin deep, but have the chassis checked out before you proceed. These are unibody cars and damage like yours can cause tweaking of the alignment.

Exactly....even after being repaired, it may look OK to the eye, but might leak air and water due to not being 100% correctly aligned.
