Got this right - WAY below $30K. Black/Imola sold for less than $20 - great buy:

Wow was I off. Thats a really good deal even if you hate the interior.

Craigslist for that car? I realize its free, so I guess why not. But thinking some member of the general public will 1. understand what that car is and 2. pay anything near that price for a 17 year old BMW is quite the stretch.

EAG doesn't do modified cars, their biz model is re-selling bone stock examples. Maybe Dinan is the exception. I'd expect to see that car soon on BaT, hopefully with some maintenance information.

lol litterally the first thing i thought of after i did a amount of zero's count

make sure my eyes or brain aint messing with me

man.. if i had the money to waste on that, ID beat the piss out of it all day long until it breaks... and then i repair it and repeat

But on the other hand.. what do you think the condition of "It" is.. think about all the stuff we have had to do to our e39's over the last 200k

NONE of that has been done to that... what would fail first?

BaT seems to really be taking off, with a Roundel mag profile piece and recent record sales prices. I did a writeup on it:

Another Imola Red M5. Imola Red always catches my eye. This one is poorly presented, has car fax issues, some questionable mods and an accident.

$15,000 tops

Nice write-up Edgy. As you know, I sourced my car from BaT and I got into it on the 2:00 thing with someone else who actually beat me out - BUT - he didn't meet the reserve. I took a shot at emailing the seller and told him I was still interested. He told me what the reserve was - $9,000 vs. my last bid of $8,500 and the winner at $8,600. I got it for $8,750 and since we did this after the auction, no fees were paid (by me, the buyer). I found that part interesting where BaT does not have any policies or monitoring on side deals post auction. I guess you could look at it two way - seller listed it, BaT accepted the listing and the reserve, it didn't sell - so it's over. Other side of the equation - I would not have found out about the car if not for BaT.

Anyhow - it's a great resource and good to know two jamokes like us started it. The only thing I don't like is the name. That la Ferrari sold last week for $3 mil on a site named "trailer". Just doesn't seem fitting for the high quality cars and classics that are listed.

I want this one. CarFax issues, poorly presented, accident, and questionable mods are my JAM. Might actually bring it into my price range...

I registered to bid.

I was thinking the same. The more I thought about it, the more I realized this could bring a pretty good price point. Good luck.

Think you guys are being slightly rough. Aside from apparently putting armorall all over the engine bay, doesn't look too bad. Check out his answer to my question, sounds like there has been some suspension replacements. If more stuff like that comes out and can be verified and the seller remains engaged, I'd say this is going for north of $15K.

Edit - just saw the repossessed mention...

I like the "Wet look" in the engine compartment...
Too bad it is a dirt magnet.

Concur on the color.
Love the Imola.
Mine has the added bonus of a Caramel interior.

$15k for a 115kmile M5 seems a bit low, especially in SoCal.

Will be interesting to find out the final sale price.

Wet look on an engine bay for a show car is great.

Wet look for a daily driver car no bueno!

I also love Imola red. But it would have to have the caramel interior too.

Carmel would be my first choice, second would be the black and grey but Im not sure they offered it in MY2000. Last choice would be black.

I want to say I've seen the black/grey before. It's probably one of those uber rare combos.

I contacted the seller:

Hi Mr. Jones,

Thank you for your interest in my 2000 BMW M5. The mileage was listed as NOT ACTUAL MILAGE on 06/19/2007 when the car was repossessed and from my knowledge of repossessions they place the mileage as NOT ACTUAL MILEAGE when they repossess the vehicle without a key to see the actual mileage and they need to put something into the system as fast as possible to show it was repossessed so to be safe they just place it as NOT ACTUAL MILEAGE, this is something I was told by my buddy who owns a repo company here in California. Then the mileage was inputted as 39,545 on 09/20/2007 which is based on the mileage on the title and not the actual mileage of the vehicle when auctioned to and bought by Moss Motors who then inputted the actual mileage of the vehicle from the cluster.

Nah, two toned black and gray is probably the third most popular after solid black and solid gray. Carmel however is Uber rare.
