DinanTRONICS Elite V2 for the BMW B58 Engine

I am considering a performance upgrade to my B58 and looking at the Dinan Elite V2. Are there any forum members out there that have this unit installed on a B58 or anyone else who can comment on its operation and performance?

folks say they can feel the difference on their 440i above 3500rpms and reduced lag below 3500rpm. I have elite v1 in my M240ix and only have positives about it Although v2 has reduced overall numbers, I'm told it is smoother than the v1 which was one of the more common complaints about v1. I did get mine installed when I bought the car for the matching warranty.

Thanks for your comment. From what I understand, similar to the JB4, the Elite V2, increases HP & Tq about the same, but does not have any control or influence on the exhaust valve flap, which remains controlled by the stock ECU. So exhaust sound levels remain the same as stock. I am also looking at the MPPSK but it is almost 3x the cost.

I was looking at the Elite V2 versus the BMW MPPSK. Both offer stats around 35 increase in HP and TRQ. When you consider you can get the Elite V2 and Dinan exhaust for $2500 but the MPPSK nearly $4000, the Dinan is a much better deal. The MPPSK does keep the comfort valve while the Dinan exhaust removes it. Might not be too fun on long trips. Tough call.

I am thinking maybe do the Elite V2 along with the Dinan cold air intake. Combined should perform very well and not change sound much.

Thanks for responding. I agree totally; it is a tough call. I was evaluating pro's and con's as well in fact today. The MPPSK is very expensive although I have been quoted out the door installed for $3,250 for MPPSK my local BMW dealership. The advantage is if I want to ride in comfort (wife) mode I just switch to driving modes and all is well. If I want to behave like I am 17 again and get my jollies, I go sport or sport plus and good to go, so I have a choice. The Dinan V2 alone does not affect the stock exhaust flap so I have the increase in HP and TQ but same ehaust sound as I have now for about $1,400 installed. I can later add exhaust sound in a second phase to make it more affordable and install a Dinan muffler for another $1,500, but will have no control of it. Like you implied, not sure I want to be traveling down the highway with uncontrolled exhaust sound in (wife) mode and be unable to listen to my HK sound system or even have a conversation inside the cockpit. So this is where I am at now. HP & TQ being relatively equal, with MPPSK at $3,250 I have sound control; with Dinan system for about $2,900 I have no sound control. The delta is about $350. The least expensive option is just go with the V2 with no sound amplification and be happy with the power increase which is the primary objective. If I had deep pockets I would absolutely go with MPPSK to have the option. Might have to save my lunch money over some time to do that or just go with V2 alone now and forego the exhaust sound amplification. Still sorting it out.

We are at the same crossroad! I am really thinking I will do the Elite V2 and the Dinan cold intake (which has HP gains posted at 13). That is a pretty good combo I think. And maybe can add the valved cat back from BMW down the road. My quote was without any discount from local dealer who I purchased from 3 wks ago. I am so into these cars now, I think I will trade up to a used M3 in two years so probably no other mod. #midlife

I hear you brother. Just purchased my 440ix last week as well. My one way 40 mile commute to work just improved. Not familiar with the BMW valved cat back. Can you control the cat back valve to adjust exhaust sound? Does the cat back retain the stock exhaust flap in the system?

Oh, I am just referring to the exhaust portion of the MPPSK. I believe it has stainless and less baffled muffler and, of course, the SS or carbon tips.

Ok; I did not realize that you could purchase just the exhaust portion of the MPPSK. I believe the MPPSK has an oversized exhaust flap valve that is controlled by the selected driving mode.

Okay, I ordered the Elite V2 kit from getbmwparts.com. Will let you know how it goes. Skipped the intake and pipes only add 5hp according to Dinan so no interest in that noise.

I'm interested to hear your opinions, as I am also weighing V2 vs. MPPSK.

Congratulations! Sounds like a good plan. Are you going to install it yourself of have your indy do it?

Will keep you posted. I am meeting with my BMW dealership service advisor next week to discuss both options. They are also an authorized Dinan dealer.

Beautiful car, JamesWWIII! Mine is same color. Your wheels look fantastic.

JNMNL52, I will install it. Downloaded the instructions and checked out my engine. It is pretty basic.

Received the unit today and installed in like 30 minutes. Very easy to install. Nasty weather here in ATL area and the game is on so will wait until tomorrow to test.

I took the car out last night at halftime. I could definitely feel the power but it was far too wet to get any meaningful impression on acceleration. Back tire were breaking loose even accelerating from 30 - 40 mph with traction ON. Today is more rain so it may be a few days before I can really do some good runs.

I did make videos of the installation so will try to do some editing on them and make a youtube post with a link here.

Here is a video with the chip installed doing 0 - 60. Don't have time to do any video editing this week so will wrap in the install as time allows. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hmmm. Used a stopwatch with the video and get just under 5 seconds. I would say where I feel the power most is as 2nd and 3rd gear kick in. I suppose the rpms are spooling up the turbo more there. I am still happy. Was good before the mod running against a loud Mustang GT. Neck and neck and I think they get 420 hp?
