Rear wiper and washer not working e83 2008

Hello,

Purchased recently a 2008 x3, 140 000 kms

The previous owner told me the rear wiper is not working, thought it was an easy fix by replacing the fuses but they were fine...

It is weird that the rear wiper and washer are not working at the same time ?

Is there a relay controlling both ?
Or I should get just an new motor and pump

Common problem on Jeep XJs is the wires breaking inside the boot where they pass from the chassis to the hatch; these have the same physics to overcome, so start your search there.

Wires come out of the roof area in a loom into the top of the hatch. Over time, repeated opening/closings coupled with heat make the insulation on the wires brittle and they snap inside the loom, typically right at the grommets the bundle passes through. Common on many hatched vehicles; Iíve got at least two unneeded wiper motors on the shelf in my shop left by customers who threw parts at the problem rather than troubleshoot. You may very well have a bigger more expensive issue than wiring, but always check the wiring, including for continuity/resistance, first.

My rear wiper and washer stopped working as well. I read somewhere that the pump will not run if it's not getting a signal from the motor. Replacing the wiper motor fixed both issues. Could be worth a shot for you. I picked up my motor on ebay.
