matt, yes, the government will get a huge portion of the ot, and yes, ed, i do believe that a good portion of it will be returned at tax time in the form of a refund, and yes, chad, it *is* a terrible place to put your money away in, but there really is no other choice in the matter. it's how they do....

the m54 mani will not accept the m50/52 throttle without an adapter, which is expensive for what it is.

the fuel rail is also different, but can be worked around with the correct fuel filter for the m54 chassis.

there was a guy who dropped in an m54 with minimal mods necessary. i think the biggest issue he had difficulty with routing was regarding the coolant hoses. the thread is over on the other bmw forum.

if i were to do an m54 swap, i would probably just use the block and swap the m52 intake on it. not certain if they are a direct bolt on or if an adapter plate would be necessary, but everything should line up.

ken, love the pic!!

This. It's not a good place to put it in, but if you look at it as being in a safe place for you, and will be there when you need it (provided when you need it is after April 2016...)

You don't have to wait until April, that's the latest you can file for a return. W2 forms by law must be sent to the employees by January 31 and you can file as soon as you have your W2, unless you need 1099 forms from investments in which case they have until February 16th. If you file early and electronically you typically get your return in 2 weeks or less.
It's still a bad investment of course.

One option is to look at what deductions you know you'll have (mortgage interest, property taxes, etc.) and estimate what your adjusted income will be. Then you can change the allowances you have listed in your W4 to reduce the taxes taken out so that what you pay approximates what you'll actually owe. Then you don't have to wait for Uncle Sam.

It took me almost a month to get mine last year, because the gubment owed me $2300. I was using 3 for the state deductions and 4 for Federal. By the way, you don't need to fill in the lines above Line H. They only look at Line H for the Federal return. But be very careful how many deductions you do, or else you will pay a metric buttload in April. We had quite a bit of taxes go through the roof in the past 8 years, and it is projected to go ever higher. But then again, I also run a business and invest in my people and business quite a bit. If I paid less in taxes, I could focus on hiring more talent for my company and get my company off the ground sooner. A good employee is a wiser investment than just a $900 chair. Wish the Feds would catch on to this notion.

Yes Don, yes. I also prefer to avoid giving uncle Sam an interest - free loan every year.

Hi all!

As usual, spot on advice from Don. I try to adjust my allowances to make it as close to break even at tax time as possible. I still usually end up with a pesky refund but at least they didn't get a ton of my money to use for free for a year.

I like getting a refund. I've been getting a few thousand the last couple years. Makes for a nice little bonus.

Anyone want a brand new carbon fiber sedan hood? Since they shipped me the wrong one, instead of returning it they've given me the option to purchase it for half price. It's an Advan brand.

I'd sell it for 400. I'd prefer not to ship though. It's oem style.

Yep and they are not comparable with one another. If I put an e36 hood in front of you, you probly would not be able to tell me if it is a coupe or a sedan. However if you tried to bolt it to your car, you could easily see if it was a coupe or sedan.

Coupes also have vents at the rear of the hood, sedans don't.

Except that I'm mostly just fiscally conservative. Socially, live and let live. I have lean more libertarian but don't agree with them on foreign policy. What I don't like is anyone forcing their beliefs on others. If someone has a strong religious belief they should not be made to violate that. Other than that, everyone should be allowed to do as they please and should not be denied their "pursuit of happiness" by the government.

What are you talking about? He is a car enthusiast in CA. The environmental hippies will get him for "killing the planet" long before any other group can get to him.

This showed up in my brother's yard today.

No, it's not his. Belongs to a former co-worker. Has the "range extender" option. I wish I'd seen it. I'm confined to quarters until this leg circulation problem resolves itself. It's been a week cooped up. I'm going stir-crazy.

I feel your cooped upness! Hope you're up around again soon!

Everybody rags on the i3, but for it's intended Errand Runner/Grocery getter purpose it does a good job of it. We might ditch the E88 for one when they start to come off lease and are available on the used market. The wife's max radius of travel is about 4 miles and she'd get at least a full week if not more on a single charge. She would need to be better about plugging in her car than she is about her other rechargeable devices, but a walk home or two would probably cure that.....

Exactly! We did what was supposed to be a two week radar test station install at Andravida AFB in Greece. Took 4 1/2 months because we only got about 1-2 hrs work a day out of the Greeks if that.
