Perhaps I'm wrong, but I think you may have to accept that no two CF hoods are the same, and (from what I've seen) they pretty much all have some sort of manufacturing imperfection.

But you should just paint it and forget about all this, anyway... Exposed CF is 2Fast/2Furious.

Just get it painted to be honest. I'll be getting mine cleaned up smoothed and painted again. Still super light just looks a little cleaner.

Have you also read that they recently found a way to get even more power out of the P85D? They are sending out an update to now give them a power setting beyond the already humorously named "Insane Mode", known as "Ludicrous Mode".

It'll look good nonetheless. Decided to have the lip painted, too, huh?

A buddy of mine did it at his shop. I forgot to take the lip off so I kind of just hoped he would do it but he didn't. I'm not too worried about it. He gave me a great deal. Depending on what it looks like on the car I'll just strip it.

Yeah, or you could just spray some black plasti-dip on it so that it has a matte finish. That way you could always peel it off again if you prefer the gloss black lip.

Gentlemen and Ed,

I've got a couple questions I hope you all can help me with. So far the interweb hasnt given a conclusive answer.

1) ive got koni str.t rears (8250 1002) from the totaled hellrot e36. I pulled them when I got the rogue RSMs out. Will they fit on the m3? They don't show up on any e36 m3 suspension pages. Only the yellows ( 8240 1115S), which also fit the non-ms. Is there any fitment difference between the oranges and yellows? I want to put the oranges on until yellows are purchased after a coolant overhaul.

2) Does the baffle on the coolant reservoir go all the way to the bottom? As in, if I want to change just the level sensor, can I "turkey baster" the side out and refill it afterwards? My level sensor is out and I want to swap is asap before a coolant overhaul this fall.

There is no fitment difference between the stock non-M and M rear shocks, so the Koni str.t will fit your car. I am guessing the reason Koni does not list the str.t as compatible with an M3 is because they are too soft.

It is real in the sense that Tesla made it. It is fake in the sense that it is an April Fools Day video.

No, the baffle doesn't go to the bottom. If you look at this diagram you'll see that the hose in the bottom of the reservoir connects into the main cooling system and the level in the reservoir represents the level in the engine. To minimize coolant loss when removing the reservoir to replace the sensor. You can use a bar clamp on the hose to seal it off.

So what do y'all think about that front page news about that poor sucker that got a 340i M package, without a V8? I don't like the new numbering scheme. It's crap in my opinion.

I think we already had this conversation at BF last year.

Some of you might remember I've been helping a friend prep his LS1 swapped sedan for sale. I spent the whole weekend over there and got it polished and did some interior work, the cosmetic work should be largely done by this weekend, then we just need to hook the motor up (its in but not running yet) and she's good to go.

Here are some teasers.

The new numbering scheme basically identifies how low or high the model is in the range of let's say the 3 series if we take your example. The main idea is that since Bmw makes only two engines in terms of cc capacity for the entire power range but has many different power outputs depending in what state of tune the engine is in, you need to address the badge issue accordingly. For example a 525d, 530d, 535d and the OUTRAGEOUS M550d all utilise the same basic 3 litre six cylinder Diesel but in different state of tune with one to THREE TURBOS....YES THAT'S 3 TURBO'S strapped to the M550d..... The "poor guy" you referred to is not so poor if you consider the following: The 840ci, 740i, and e39 540i of the nineties all shared the same 286 BHP V8,... The 340i must be pushing something near 350 bhp but what is certain is that he'll be doing 0-100 kmh sprints in the mid to upper 4 sec range..... That's hardly something to be sniffed at!

By the way my speedo cluster all of a sudden decided to stop showing my speed and fuel level although RPMS are OK...whats the problem? Anyone have any ideas... It's a '95 e36 M3.

Thanks... Is there a possibility it could also be in the rear wheel hub? When it happened to My E39, that's where the culprit was.

^ For the speedo it is in the diff. The wheel position senor is for the ABS/ASC.

Hold up - the fuel stopped at the same time. It's got to be something electrical.

Oh I read it as "although fuel and RPM are ok." In that case sounds like maybe the cluster or the wiring going into it? I haven't encountered that issues so I'm not really sure.

I feel like fuel and speed are on the same circuit so check fuses first, but it's been a while since I've had to deal with that.
