Mein Auto: 2016 Z4 35i- Estoril Blue
I remember driving to work one day and seeing what looked like an Estoril Blue Z4 about 1/4 mile ahead of me. I thought - "Damn, that is one great looking car." I got all excited because I have never seen another one on the street. I speed up to it and pulled even.

....and I waved to Mrs. Z4luvr who was driving my car because we switched off that day.

Hard to find. Yes they are.

Look at the US Sales figures.

That's great data...always wondered about the figures. Confirms the exclusivity of having one.
Thanks BostonB6!!

I am also new to the forum....bought my 35is after finding on CarGurus....Found it in California the day the dealer listed it.....callled, did my research and bought it in a day. Flew out there, signed and drove it for a couple of days out in CA. Just had it delivered here to Chicago....and we got snow that evening, now have more than a foot and more coming this weekend.
Oh well...spring is close.....I have it covered in the garage and can't wait to drive my new toy....

The terms: Like new, excellent condition, immaculate condition, are definitions that vary in real life so much that I even started to believe that 50,000 miles was low mileage for a two year old car.

However when you finally find "THE HOLY GRAIL" it makes it all worth while and knowing what I know now about my Z4 35is I would willingly go through the pain all over again.

She's a beauty all right!

Z4 Status

Curious to know what BMW's plans are for this car. I was once a proud owner when they were produced in Greer, SC and traded it for a new E46. I read a while back they were going to redesign and go back to the rag top. Can anyone confine these rumors? I always enjoyed driving it even with the old RFT I know it would be much better with today's RF technology. Thank y'all and I look forward to your comments.

Great Find

Found two at a dealer in Ill last June, both 2015 CPO's and both under 3k. One was a 35is and the one I bought was a 35i with 2380 miles.

The new Z4, G29, is due out BMW says some time this year. It is a ragtop (as a former E85 owner, I'm not happy, nor are a lot of other E89 owners).

There are lots and lots of pictures, discussions all over the place. Bimmerfest doesn't have a forum for it yet, but you can search to find threads and you can look here:

I really lucked out and happened to be searching at a time with decent supply this winter. I had decided on the 2009+ sDrive35i (or 35is) and under 70K miles. When I started searching in late 2018/early 2019, there just happened to be about a dozen that came up. Of course, I did a nationwide search because I'm relatively in the boondocks and didn't mind a "buy and fly."

Winter is naturally a good time to buy, and shortly after Christmas even better. It all depends on how anxious you are and the vagaries of the market.

Loving the Z!!!

I bought one CPO in person from a BMW dealer in Wichita Falls, TX (who knew they even had a dealer there!!) about 100 miles away. Glad your patience paid off.
Gorgeous blue! Too bad BMW NA did not sell the blue Z4 with a manual gearbox in the U.S.

Thanks - I love me some blue Z4s, four blue ones plus two red e89s. Most of the time I would buy 3 year old Z4s with low miles and sell them when they closed in on 60K to 70K miles. I have had 2 Montego Blue 2006 e85s. One deep sea blue 2009 e89 and now my estoril blue 2016 e89, which I bought new via ED in the last month of e89 production. I am going to own this one a long time because I am all about the convertible hardtop. Not a big fan of the new Z4 with the ragtop.

I have to drive in traffic a lot so I need the seven speed DCT. I would go insane with a manual in my commute.

Mein Auto: 2009 BMW Z4
When I decided on my next car, I choose at least a 2009 Z4 with the hard top convertible. I took a look a all the online car services and found my gem in Pennsylvania, near Philly. I had the car shipped to me here in New Hampshire. Funny, at the time I could only find one Z4 for sale in the entire state. Without even driving it, touching it, it was delivered to my front door. Every day I find excuses to take my car for a drive. The roads in NH were built for this car. Twisty, turning, straight aways, and few pot holes. When Winter strikes, I put the Z on my car hauler and pull it South for Winter fun on the Gulf Coast. Best of all worlds. I didn't know the Holy Grail has a Rondel.

Thought I found it then ...

I've been studying & searching for some time for a roadster. Love the looks of the hardtop I want a stick shift which really limits the selection. I'm sure DCT is quite capable but, I'm old school looking for a weekend runabout.
I had a list of 5 boxes I wanted the car to check. I almost got a 5 out of 5 with the desired colors and features but -
Long story short, after an extensive national search, I finally found the perfect car and the seller tried to hide a past salvage title. Thank God for carfax.
Ultimately I made some concessions on power and options and found a car I think I can upgrade and enjoy.
Fast forward & yesterday I arranged a PPI at a BMW dealer for a 2010 30i model with reasonable miles for a fair price. I'm excited. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Hopefully I'll be back with lots of questions about and pics of my new car.

Happy hunting and be thorough and careful in your due diligence

Since this thread was started, I've had to disposed of my Z4 after it was run over by a cement truck last August. I have been looking for another ever since and they are extremely difficult to find. The last one took me nine months to find (a 2011 IS with 19k miles on it). I have decided that I would only go with a 35i or another IS (I just don't think I would be happy with less). I've have found a couple but they have 70-80k mlies on them and I'm just not interested in something like that. I did drive a Merc SL500 a couple of weeks ago, nice car, had the pano roof but what a disappointment. That thing couldn't get out of it's own way and felt like I was drive an F350 weight wise. I'm still looking but have even broaden my scope to include M3 and M4 convertibles. I have a couple of years before I retire and am hopeful that I find something in that time.
