Snap-in Reversed Audio Channels

Hi All,

I have a 2013 X1 with ConnectedDrive, SmartPhone integration, and HK.

When plugging my phone into the USB below the screen, the audio quality is good. However when using the Snap-In adapter (tried multiple) the sound is reversed (Left to Right).

I have taken it into the dealer a few times and they have replaced the adapter, I have also purchased an upgraded version going from the 5S to the iPhone Xs, and the issue persist.

The dealer also states that they tried the adapter in another vehicle and experienced the same issue.

Anyone else noticing this, where the audio quality is degraded in snap-in vs the direct USB?

Wanted to check here before writing BMWUSA.

Thanks for your help,

Hi, I was curious and having only owned the car a few months so I spent a few minutes trying to repro this. I looked around for a downloadable sound test file, most were online only but I found downloadable here. https://www2.iis.fraunhofer.de/AAC/multichannel.html

I loaded the file to my iPhone SE. I first tested using the original cradle, not the "new SKU" cradle, it played fine.

Connected SE to USB cable and played file again. It played fine.

Sorry, Unable to repro, could be you need someone to test with the same year.

Thanks for looking into it.

Will do some more research, and shoot something over. They said that they were able to reproduce it in another vehicle with a cradle, but not sure what they did.

What is your source? Are you using an app or is this a song you loaded into the phone?

Sorry for the delay, things have been hectic.

I experience this issue with both music loaded into the phone, streaming, youtube, pretty much anything being played from the phone.

This issue also happens with multiple phones and cradles.

Not sure if there is a wiring diagram that shows how it's plugged in, the dealer said that everything is correct, but I have had similar issues in the past with crossed ECM wires that "shouldn't have been able to be swapped".
