Cabin air filter near passenger footwell

I have a 2013 x5 xdrive35i. I know we have two cabin air filters for our E70. I usually buy this one for the one located in the engine bay.
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...5-x6-cuk2941-2
Even though FCPEuro's website says that it does not fit, it is wrong. It does fit.

I cannot find the second cabin air filter located at the passenger footwell, below the glove box. I contact their customer service but they are not helpful. Can anyone help?

Nice write up over here...

https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=708271

Step by step and easy to follow. Snap a pic of your old filter next to the new filter if you replace it and upload it here. It's amazing how much they collect.

You are talking about different filters! This is cabin filter in outside. There are also recirculation filter in cabin for inside air! That filter can consist from two parts. Mine was like metallic and looked like bee house in two parts! Did not know that. I bought normal filter in one part.

I found it. The recirculation filter (not BMW genuine part) is here

Do we really have to change this one every 2 years?

Oh boy! Just ordered cabin filters for my 2013 e70 35xi LCI.
Are you saying that each filter side consists of 2 pieces [4 altogether-2 per side?] For a/c and heat?

I replace four filters annually, engine air filter, cabin air filter (2) and recirculated filter. I almost never use recirc and the filter is always immaculate.

Gotcha. The recirc is new to me [but then again so is my E70...]
Not sure if my E39 has one. Never heard mention of it...
Thanks

When I was looking for incabin recirculation filter...I did not see any filter like I had in my car!
I do not know what kind of metal it was. May be alluminium...all I saw in shops it was normal filter one size like those 2 together!

Uncomfortable and fiddly in the passenger footwell, but very doable if you back still fine.

Can you report back how it looks? Recirc is used so little I wonder it may actually be the only real ‘lifetime’ part on our cars.

Funny side note; my opel astra has only one air filter, after the recirculation valve.
