what is this object ?

My new X2 F39 hold in the trunk van something nobody has been able to tell me what is. The item is in the left side receptacle, in the trunk vane, were are located some tools(screwdriver etc), in the bottom side. It's a sort of plastic jig and it seems to be fixed. Attached photos
Have you ever seen that object or can help me to understand what is ?
Thanks

I barely looked in there.. does it even come out? The only thing I know is that there is a spot for my wheel lock I did hope to have a spare tire kit and/or a jack but mine isn't equipped with either. Maybe it's a wedge so the car won't roll.. looks like it could work

X2 mistery item

No, does not come out. Looks as to be fixed to the car, so cannot be a wedge. I am still waiting for an answer from the germany plant. Here in Italy nobody knows what could it be !
It's really a funny thing ! More, I have a set of runflat tyres, therefore no kit to repair.

Mein Auto:
That type of bracket is often used to hold optional electronics modules. They are brick-like, and snap into the open central space of the bracket, with wiring exiting through the various gaps. My guess would be it's for an audio or radio device, or perhaps a trailer electronics module.

Interested in whether you hear something back from the factory...

I was too. But they (I mean people from German plant) relayed the question to italian BMW staff according to their procedure and I got an answer that I consider not relevant (just to say a good word ).
I will think about your iphotesis and in case I will return here. Frankly I doubt as the item is firmly locked in that enclosure. For me it's "the BMW mistery" .
Thanks for your attention
