Add coolant

This is a little embarrassing but my engine compartment doesnít look like the owners manual so....

2014 550xi. Display came up and said coolant low. I went and got original coolant. As mentioned , the cap i think is for the coolant doesnít look like the owners manual so is it the place in the picture?
I also donít see a min/max marker in the filler neck so how do I know how much to put in?

Yes. Did you remove the cap? I have a 2015 535i and it clearly shows the min and max level in there.

Hi, you are trying to add coolant in the brake fluid reservoir mate. I hope you didn't add there any or you have just ruin all your brake fluid, cause brake fluid is hygroscopic and the 50% of your coolant is distilled water.

There are many post here talking about, anyway here in the image you have both coolant reservoir tanks, the one in the right as you look the image is the main one, and the second under the engine cover is the intercooler tank or so.
You should check both and fill both with proper 50% blue coolant.

WOW!!! What a stupid way to check coolant! Use a tape measure to check the level? What were BMW thinking?

Thanks for that simon.

Dark gap just gave me that sinking feeling since i already filled it there. It did make the warning go away so i felt pretty good about it.

And yes i used blue 50% coolant.

Thanks everybody.
