I love this comment of yours, @scootr. I don't think there's ever a time when I drive it that I don't give a quick (or longer) look back after I've parked it. Even in my own garage. Of course - as we've all no doubt experienced - it's a car that prompts people to compliment in public. Happened to me 3 times in the past 2 days! It is such a classic design and also soft and sensuous; something the G29 sorely lacks. I get it, the G29 will outperform our E89s and they have up-to-date tech goodies, but it's nowhere near an equal trade off.

This change is not limited to the Z4; the entirety of the BMW lineup is pretty homely right now. I'm not sure why they decided to super-size the kidney grilles, but it's gotten out of hand. I understand that automakers have to keep making incremental changes (mechanical, technical, aesthetic) to keep people buying new cars, but it's mystifying to take such a classically beautiful design like the E89 and coarsen it. But for those who love the G29, right on, to each his own.

They might've designed the cybertruck for shock value. I'm sure they know that pickup truck fans want their vehicles to "look like pickup trucks", and may change the design soon.

If so - job well done
I'm shocked anybody would think that design had any value whatsoever. A 5 yr old with a ruler and pen could have drawn that. Or maybe it's designed using a Lego set

I agree. Just like any concept vehicle, what's at the auto show is typically more radical than what makes it into production. The production version likely will be significantly divergent from the standard pickup mold, but you can't totally alienate the target buyer.

That said, they've already taken 250,000 (!) pre-orders based on this preview. Granted, the cost of a pre-order is only $100 and a lot won't follow through, but why just shell out a hundred bucks for no reason?

I read the deposit is 100% refundable... so maybe stockholders just bumping the value of stock?
