Minor/bothersome set up problem.

Guys,

Am relatively new to BMW. Have two now. Can do just about anything/everything regarding servicing/maintaining with the exception of things requiring coding by BMW.
Am having a confounding time setting up Office to receive texts/emails on a new to me 650i Xdrive (F13). When I go to ‘Office’ the only listing present is ‘Contacts’ and it is checked off. No listing(s) for Current Office, Messages, Calendar... etc.
There is a text icon (envelope) present on heading of Control Display (likely from the PO). His name is listed as a paired phone, but is, of course, non connected. This tells me the function has worked. I also note in the ‘Telephone’ window I have all the choices EXCEPT ‘Messages’.

I know this is small potatoes, but I need the function and can’t get through it. Had no problems setting up the X5 with this when it got home.

Thanks In Advance

Craig

For my part I have never used these features, but things that I have have necessitated connecting my mobile phone into the USB port or adapter and opening connecteddrive app. It does not seem to happen under bluetooth but a hard connection. not sure if this will help? IF you have the concierge service I think they can help you as part of the service??

Michael, thank you.
I did contact the mothership and they said the Office suite had changed and needs upgrade. The PO had not tended to this. I am glad to know there is a solution. Now let’s see the cost...

I think you correct, my car has just come out of warranty and all the services are now individual sections, ie nav updates, connected services etc. When I went online I realised that 2017 cars onwards have bundled services with an upgraded IDrive system which is probably why there is an issue with 2016 cars. I have had to buy one year updates for different services, which if you buy them all becomes expensive, but on 2017 cars they are all bundled into one at a competitive price compared to what I have had to pay for the individual services. This bundle is not for 2016 cars.(hope this makes sense) but if you go into the BMW connected services web site you will see my point. I think you will find some of the services you want they do not now offer for 2016 cars once they come out of warranty.

Update:

My bad.
I couldn't configure Office to receive messages until I pressed OPTION button while in Bluetooth window so as to configure the Bluetooth settings.
I knew it had to be something 'intra' vehicle.
Small thing, but useful to me.

Given they no longer give out freely a paper manuel, it is often difficult working out how to do things from the manual on the IDrive, it is not that intuitive really. Good you have found your solution.

Michael,
Thanks for the reply.
Actually I do have the hardcopy manuals in the car portfolio. They were both still wrapped in plastic. One was for car controls and functions, and the other was for navigation, entertainment, and communications.
Regarding the Message function (text and email), the section seemed to assume one had already configured both the Telephone and Bluetooth for it. I had only configured the phone.
Oh well.

Here in the UK, and when you consider the price of a new car, you have to pay extra for the hard copy manual
