Stock 550ix, 440 FHP, 505 #-ft, 12.9 sec @ 108.9 MPH
Stock 550ix, 425 FHP, 485 #-ft, 13.1 sec @ 107.6 MPH
Dinan 550ix, 501 FHP, 580 #-ft, 12.4 sec @ 113.8 MPH

Do these estimates look reasonable?

I watched the PP-Performance dyno video, and I'm much more inclined to believe the dyno numbers are way too low than a 19.9% driveline loss on a RWD with a DCT. And that's assuming the M5 only makes its rated 560hp. The AWD + Auto might hit 20% drivetrain loss, but I think that may even be too high given the low rpm the torque converter locks-up on the ZF tranny. Based upon the dyno results below, the 560hp M5 only makes 60 rwhp more than the 400hp 550 with an auto tranny. Is it time to start bashing the M5 for being an under performer? I wouldn't.

Here are the F10 dyno results I have seen so far:
M5 (DCT)- rated HP: 560, dyno'd HP: 444 (21% loss)
Dinan S2 (manual) - rated HP: 501, dyno'd HP: 401 (25% loss)
550i (auto) - rated HP: 400, dyno'd HP: 385 (4% loss)
550i (manual) - rated HP: 400, dyno'd HP: 353 (12%)

Actually, I'm not sure how any of these dyno runs could possibly help us determine the actual power output of these motors.

It's a tune that takes advantage of the decreased back pressure associated with the Dinan exhaust system. The max HP only increases by 10hp, but I suspect the real increase will come at lower rpms. Yes, it is for the AWD too.

So, tried two runs on the way to work this morning using the Dynomaster andriod app. For some reason it did not log 0-60 times. 1/8 mile times were 7.04 sec/88.36mph on the first run and 6.88 sec/86.91 on the second run. There is no way in hell that your tuned 550 will do the standing 1/8th mile in 6.88 or 7.03 seconds.
That takes 600 rwhp in a car that weighs 3200 lbs. The mph might be close to accurate. I'm guessing 8.0 if you're lucky.
If you go to any conversion tables, a run of 6.88 is equal to running the 1/4 mile in 10.76 and that is not possible in a new 550 unless you have a tune and a big shot of Nos.
Do you really think your car can go from 0 - 86 mph in 6.88 seconds??
A few weeks ago at the local 1/8th mile track there was a tuned moddied AMG S65 with 565rwhp and he ran a surprizing fast 7.25 @ 97 mph. It was equipped with drag radials.

I spoke with my Dinan rep. He said that he spoke with Chris Dinan himself and that the Stage 1 software was released about 6 months after the 550 was released. He said that stage 1 was really developed for the X5 that it didn't suit the 550 well. So... They released stage 2 and he says this makes the car drive amazingly well and is a perfect match for the 550. Don't shoot the messanger this is just what I was told

The same source quotes the Panamera Turbo S as weighing an additional 135 pounds, developing 65 HP less, yet it still manages to out accelerate the M5 both to 100 km/h and 200 km/h by a significant 0.6 seconds. The extravagant HP claim and the poor acceleration numbers for the M5 are inconsistent with other tested sources.

You can verify a mistake in their claim (620 HP on dyno, claimed 560 HP). The 560 is not a claimed dyno number, as it is BMW's advertised fly wheel HP. That's a huge error.

I place no trust in their dyno HP claims nor their acceleration numbers.

Simple. HP isn't everything.
There are many other factors that make a car go fast.

The reason why the Panamera Turbo S can outrun M5 is because their specially designed All Wheel Drive System. Cars with AWD typically can launch faster than RWD cars. Plus better transmission, different gearing ratio will make the car go fast.

BUT the Panamera Turbo S is not really that much faster than M5.
It does 1/4 mile in 11.4 sec vs M5 11.78 sec.
So the M5 is by no mean slow.
When you consider the Panamera Turbo S cost twice as much, the M5 seems like a bargain.

*Actually, I was wrong. The M5 can outrun the Panamera Turbo S.
