Strange sound from dash/engine compartment

Hi.

I have noticed a strange mechanical "tickiling" sound when I start the car. The sound is only noticable when the radio is off and disappears as the car warms up.

The sound appears to be related to the revolutions of the engine and it actually appears to come form the revs meter (or somewhere behind the dash). The sound is not loud - its a "tickling" sound and it goes "piiiffft" when i let go of the gas pedal.

Could it be the air intake making this noise - any suggestions?

Best regards

JSE

No, I have checked the oil level - it's OK. I very careful with the oil

It really strange - the "pissst" sound seems to come when the needle on the revs meter is "released" and falls back towards zero. Also, as I wrote, most noticable when its cold - leading my thoughts toward the air intake system.

I have it too, as well as my cousin. I live with it, while on the other hand my cousin has taken it in numerous times without success.

It is normal. It's the sound of the vacuum hose activating the fuel consumption meter when the needle swings back and forth from one end to the other.
