2012 E70 Front Brake Job Rotors -Turn or New?

I just had the brake sensor come on inside my 2012 E70. I found Autozone brake pads but no rotors. Should I order new rotors or can the OEM rotors be turned successfully? I don't care either way. The OEM rotors are still nice and thick and not scored.

If they are above minimum then continue using the existing rotors. Why turn them?

RE why turn

There is a lip on the outside edge of the rotor that I would like to have taken down to flush. Other than that they look good.

When I did mine last year I just got new aftermarket rotor from autozone (dealerships want to charge me around $2000 for the rotor, brake and service), no issue since. Mine factory rotor also have a lip around the edge, but honest I think it will just be easier to buy new ones.

I would agree but........
Autozone is out of stock on their rotors and no known date for restock. Maybe I will try Napa or O'Reilly

do they not have ups and fedex in Missoula??

Zimemrman rotors, amazon, 2 day shipping with Prime. Done!


BTW, how many miles on those rotors now? If you dont change them, you will go double that until you reach the next inspection....

Doug, with all respect to your BMW experience I would recommend replacing rotors. The old rotors normally wear out or sag in on the inner diameter as this is the hottest point of the working pad-and-rotor pair. New pads will be skewed on the day of installation.

Since rotors found their first use on Alfa Romeo people use new pads on old, thick enough rotor. Which I did some 35k ago and they work same as before. Now in 4-5k it is time for new rotors and pads.

What AutoZone pads? I would stay away from that.
