Key FOB lost unlock/lock help? F Series

Guys,

Weird problem battery in FOB is good. X5 2014

I had the car are Discount Tire to fix a nail. When I got it back I could not start the car and had to hold the remote to the column. It started and the profile did see the saved name of me.

However, from that point I am unable to lock/unlock the car. Every time I get in I have to hold the remote to the column to start the car. My other remote works fine.

I can go back and question them on Monday if they dropped the remote or something else.

Is this something where I need to Resync the remote or something else? Is so what steps are there for a F Series ?

Thanks !

You made a blanket statement without any verification/clarification of how you came to that conclusion. Most of us are probably thinking the same thing...and that is...how do you know the battery inside the fob is good?

Hi. Yes for the battery I put a new one in and also swapped that battery in the other remote that works and that one worked. Also took the working remote battery and used that in the one that is not working. All batteries worked.

Thanks

Ah...thanks for the clarification.

I would do as you mentioned, and give the vendor a call ASAP to let them know about the issue that appeared after being in their hands. Not sure what or how they will proceed...but all they can do is either be helpful or tell you to unfortunately pound sand.

Without diagnostic software/hardware...I'm not sure what else you could do in regards to checking the fob to see if it is sending data. I believe BMW dealerships still have a digital reader that can retrieve data/info from the remote. If push comes to shove...you may need to drop by and see if they pick up data from that remote fob.

Good luck.

Ok this is odd. Last night took the battery out again to see if I could take the remote apart to look in too deeper. I could not as it is more or less sealed. This morning put the battery back in and it started to work.

Nothing different. Same new battery, same good contacts (before I bent a little and did make sure they had contact). Nothing different today just left the battery out overnight. Not sure why that worked but it did !

Whatever it was I am glad its working !

Thanks for the input
