wiper relay location 2000 5281A

Ok I have read most of the threads concerning this and it's not there! Under the drivers side cabin air filter is nothing but the brake stuff and the passenger side has the wiper fluid tank. Where else should I look???
I feel certain that it is the relay as the rain sensor/delay would work then stop as time grew it just would not work. All the time regular speeds would work. When ever it did stop a few hours later it would work again. Of course now it doesnt work at all!
2000 528i with rain sensor & premium & sport package
production is 9/99

HELP! Got laid off so I have to do this myself!

Under passenger's side cabin filter housing.

You might want to read this thread "Windshield Wipers don't work":

I removed the passenger side cabin air filter housing in the engine compartment and the tank for the wiper washer was there! So is this inside the car on the passenger side or below the tank of windshield washer fluid?

Thanks for responding so quickly!

Since it is important to show the difference between earlier models (1996-97) and later years (1998- etc.), attached is the pic that shows the difference:

Thanks a lot for the picture ! - I was going crazy trying to find the brown relay I should replace ! - Now concluding that I dont have that at all :-)
I did take apart the two purple relays and found the error ! - Bad contacts. Clean them and wupti - everything worked again.

Good job.
However, I don't recommend cleaning these relays at all because the purple relay is only $10 each, and yet they perform a critical function: what you don't want is the relays fail during heavy rain/snow, now you are talking about a crash that could have been prevented!

I would think you can find them for your particular model year over here ...

- BMWfans phantom diagrams (1) & Realoem nominal prices by part number (1) & EACTuning prices by part number (1) & the most often recommended parts suppliers (1) & joining BMWCCA to lower parts costs (1) (2)

Problem

Thanks for the sites. I had already checked several of them but the problem is that they don't show the relays where they are located on the car. They just have a "various relays" section. They are color coded but I'm not sure if the violet relay in the various relay section is the violet one shown and labeled as K36 and K37 in the picture. It shows a number of 61 36 1 388 911 but no where does it say this is the wiper relay --- only the colors seem to match. Anyone know? Is this the right one? Are the K36 and K37 identical relays? Thanks again

still broken

I confirmed the violet relay (k36 and K37) are part number 61 361 388 911. They are both the same. I replace both but still have no wipers. I checked and have about 6vdc at the switch, when I turn the wipers on I can here K36 click but not K37. I have 11.5vdc all the time at one pin on K37 but no click ever. At the motor with the wiper switch on I only have 3.6vdc. Ideas??????

Same problem, help!!

I realize this is a really old thread but I have the same problem. It's not the relays or the fuse. Did you get his fixed?

Does anyone reading this have any ideas?
