BMW's Z8 was produced from 1999-2003 and in that time only 5703 of them hit the roads, 2,543 of those headed to the US. Now, like many rare, low production number vehicles, it looks like the value of the BMW Z8s are on the rise.

The Z8 wasn't cheap by any means when it was new, running around the $130k mark. It's stylish all-aluminum body covered a minimalist interior that was driver focused and a 4.9 liter V8. The motor was sourced from the E39 M5 and was good for near 400 horsepower, rocketing it to 60 in under 4.7 seconds.

Values of the Z8 today are around $146k for an average car, where some even rarer Alpina models (555 produced, 450 went to the US) can fetch $168k. However, in the last year or so, prices have gone way over those figures. Some real nice low mileage Z8s can be found on eBay for near $300k and there is even an Alpina model for just under $370k! That's huge money. If you made your purchase early, you have a nice investment on your hands. If you are looking to buy, well, be ready to spend some serious cash.

Have a look a some Z8s available from eBay. Click on the pic to view the auction.
