BMW Protection Plans

I know this question must have been asked a million times before, but for some reason I can't find a decent discussion thread related to the BMW Protection Plans.

I just put down a deposit on a new 2015 428i xDrive, but haven't signed the lease yet. I plan on returning the lease at the end of the 48 month term so was wondering if it's worth getting the "BMW insurance," specifically the Wear & Use and Tire & Rim Protection.

- How much money do people pay at the end of the lease if they don't get the wear & use insurance?
- Is it worth getting tire and rim protection for 4 years in Canada?
- Do 18" RFTs have the same problems as 19" RFTs?
- Is it possible to negotiate the price of the protection plans?
- etc.

I don't even know what other questions to ask. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Around $1,000 per 25k miles for added maitnance in the U.S. And it is negotiable at dealers.

You can also pick length of added coverage but I do a year typically because I crank miles on my car.

I would say no on the rim and tire.

Mein Auto: 335xi
First time leased a 335xi in Oct 2014. Was told that the Tire & Rim Package was $1,600 and then the Additional Wear & Tear was $1,000. I negotiated the Additional Wear & Tear down to $900. July 2015 I closed a lease with a 535xi for my wife. Was told that Additional Wear & Tear is $1,600 and the Tire and Rim is $2,400. I asked why so much higher than the 335xi I leased last year and was told by the dealer that in 2014 it was provided by 3rd party. In 2015 it is being provided by BMW so I declined both.

I am not sure whether BMW changed their policy or it is the dealer playing games but both Tire & Rim and Additional Wear & Tear don't really seem worth it.

The additional $$$ don't really seem like an insurance but rather a pre-payment plan of an incident you are not sure will even occur.

I checked e-bay and seems like a decent set of 4 identical used tire & rim set with TPMS will cost less than $1,700 so why buy insurance for $2,400?
