Is BimmerCode safe for my newly purchased F32?

This is my first post here. I used to write under the same username on e46fanatics.

My wife and I have just traded our beloved e46 325 Coupe (new to us 15 years ago) for a brand new 2020 440i Coupe.

We love the car, well, except the Active Sound - hence my question.

I understand Active Sound can be turned off via BimmerCode, BUT is Bimmercode safe to do so? Meaning is it already matured enough with all possible early release issues already ironed out and by now safe to use?

Also what would be the least expensive OBDII adapter recommended? I really only want to decode the Active Sound with it, so I don't plan on using it for any other coding.

Many thanks in advance,

Andreas

PS: our first impression on this car - it is way too powerful.

Check the Coding section for threads about BimmerCode & Carly. Many pleased users of both platforms.

Thanks but the suggested link is basically a link to a coding sub-forum of all models.

I was hoping someone could give a definite YES/NO answer to my question, because that is all I'm really looking for.

It certainly would help by saving me some time of not having to sort through hours worth of reading material, most of which is irrelevant to my question.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful by taking my time to save you time. Hundreds, if not thousands, have coded successfully using BimmerCode & Carly. Good luck.

As you're familiar with other forums, you can use the Search function while at the Coding forum. Search using active sound or ASD (active sound design) & the pertinent threads will be listed. It's that easy.

OK, never mind then. I did not realize it was a big deal to type a 2 letter "no" or a 3 letter "yes" for answer.

In the past, I have spent a bazillion hours on various forums including helping people. I thought help is like a circle and some day (now) I could be helped as well.

But it is OK. I'll get my info elsewhere. It is our first leased vehicle, so I won't need more help for it. As for my other vehicles I have more tools, info and knowledge then some independents shops do. So thankfully there I don't need to beg anyone to write a simple YES or NO answer.

@Andreas1000, YES, Bimmercode is a fantastic app. I have coded a lot of things on my F30 without a hitch. Easy to use, very effective, and easy to revert back via backup.

Many thanks for chiming in.

This was the confirmation I was looking for.

Bimmercode's website says the app does support Active Sound Design.

https://bimmercode.app/cars/f32/ Go to the link, click on Active Sound Design. You can find the setting under the ASD_01 control unit.

Mein Auto: 440i Coupe
I have used Bimmercode on my '18 440i Coupe from about 2 months after I took delivery. I have had no issues with any of the coding. It is pretty easy to use to code or re-code.
I also have the Burger Motorsports JB4 module on my car. I do physically remove it before having any dealer service done. Also, not any issues with JB4.
Hope that helps.

Wow, just wow. Such a truly unhelpful acerbic response is exactly what gives BMW owners such a poor reputation.

Thanks much again guys.

It is a full go ahead with BimmerCode then. I downloaded the app already I'm about to decide on the OBD2 connector.

Veepeak is what I use, and I think what BimmerCode recommends. If you haven’t used it before, bimmercode has a bunch of “premade” programmable options that you can execute by the push of a button and are safe to use. Expert mode is where the fun is at BUT if you don’t know what you’re doing, you can mess things up quickly.

Do you not find the OP's responses equally offensive? The dismissive, entitled attitude he displayed fuels the BMW owner stereotype.

I have used it on my F34 many times with my Iphone, however I would suggest you use the Ethernet adapter on the iPhone and then an Ethernet / obd cable. I would never code any other way but hard wired for obvious reasons.

ENBIA RJ45 Ethernet LAN Network Adapter for Phone Pad, Phone Ethernet Adapter, 3.3ft/1m Cable, 10/100Mbps High Speed,Plug and Play Enbia (Silver)

BimmerCode is great. You don't have to be worried about it not mature enough.
