Anyone done an OEM exhaust mod ?

Hi Guys. I just bought a 2015 F85 in black with 21" wheels. It looks great but could do with sounding a little more aggressive. I hear that there is a mod to the OEM exhaust which gives it a still deeper and 30% louder note. You have to cut into the muffler. Anyone tried it and can recommend on the sound and drone if any ? Also what exactly is done in the mod ?

Thanks

Steve

IMHO, before you cut into exhaust & end up with insufferable drone at highway speeds or some other rpm range, simply “toggle” engine dynamics button to “sport plus” & give that a try for a bit.

Before you go cutting up your exhaust, like was required on the E9X ///M3's, your X5 can be set to permanent "bypass" in the following manner:

1. Drive around until engine is warmed up
2. Place into Sport+ mode
3. Exhaust flaps should go to "bypass"
4. While in sport + and engine running, and in Park, unplug the electrical solenoid plugs on left and right exhaust pipes
5. Protect plugs and socket from water by covering them well, and zip tie the wiring harness so it doesn't hand below the bumper
6. Turn off engine
7. Next startup, your exhaust will stay in bypass

I did this for a while, and while it is loud, enough to perturb most neighbors, without WOT.....it got pretty annoying....so I went back to stock.

This will not set off any dashboard lights....

....and haven't checked to see if there is a VO code to keep flaps open....
