You can either replace the torque converter or leave it be and reset it every time your engine light comes on. All m54b30 engines mated to the same zf trans will get this code. There is an internal seal that fails and the only way to fix it is to replace the torque converter.

Did you find out anything further on this? I'm in the same boat. I asked about it here awhile back and the response I got was if the car is still driving as normal, keep driving until you have a problem. The indy shop I took it to said some people will go 20-30K miles with this issue and never have a problem. I was told that when it does become a problem, I'd know it.
