2011 335d - CPO expiring soon

I've got 55k and my warranty will be expiring soon - I'm planning to have the car looked over, anything particular I need to look at specifically?

If it ain't actually broken already, you can't get BMW to 'look at it' under CPO.

Don't forget that, because you and the car are in CA, the CA emissions warranty covers most engine stuff until 7/70K.

I should clarified that better. I just wanted to ask folks if there are certain parts that start wearing out around the 50-50k miles. Thanks everyone

Generally few things break by 50K, which is why factory new car warranty covers to that point! Little risk of expense for BMW NA.

100K miles is when the first set of repairs kicks in. Or it has been in the past.

335d carbon build up disaster.

At 79,000 miles and one month left on 7 year or 100,000 mile extended warranty the Service Engine Soon would not stay turned off. It passed scheduled vehicle inspection and had an early,as usual, oil change, filter and DEF fluid. Driving 10 miles made the SES light come back on. It took a week to determine intake carbon build up due to exhaust gas recirculation. Walnut shell blasting of interior of intake and the swirl flaps and an injector replacement was done under the warranty. SES light came on driving off the lot. A sensor replacement was done after another weeks wait and the SES light still came back on. Now it needs the exhaust filter replaced for $3,500 and is not covered by the warranty. Will the SES light stay off then?

My beautiful torque monster is turning into a pumpkin as the warranty expires. The factory cannot keep it running while under warranty? What does the future hold. I've read that other owners have paid 7 to 12 thousand dollars when CBU is not covered by warranty. Is an exhaust filter not part of the emissions control system that has to still work until 100,000 miles?

Can the SES light be argued? The problem wasn't fixed and the light could have been reset too soon before noticing that it needs other repairs?

I'm thinking about getting an extended warranty. Yes it will probably cost 2-3k? But just to have the peace of mind.

Maybe I might call up other speciality shops and ask them what they've experienced with 335d's as the warranties come to an end.

They all start wearing out at mile 1 and continue at various rates and speeds.

They way CPO warranty works is that you bring the car to the dealer and they will look over or diagnose the issue charging you their std rates ...
Typically, you sign that you agree with it and will be charged min 1 hour of labor.
IF they find issue which is covered by CPO - they fix it and charge you only $50.. in all other situations - you pay dealers std rates .... so they love if you come to them to "look over" -as it is 99% guarantee that they will find things requiring fixing/ changing and you pay for it lots of $$$ or at least one hour worth of labor..
Whats interesting is that for all CPO exemptions - or any other things which can not be changed during the warranty period unless you have specific # miles driven or BMW criteria are met - no longer apply. Now, when you pay - they can and advise you to change your brakes , tires, wipers, filters way before they have to be changed....
