Thinking about joining the 4 series family - 430i GC

Hey all, Happy new year!

Just reaching out to see how you guys like your four series. I am thinking about test driving the 430i gran coupe. Currently have a 2010 550i.

Any recommendations or reviews on the 430 grand coupe? Is it reliable? I live in the north and this would be my only car. It seems to be versatile and functional for the every day commute.

Thanks in advance

Do a search on the GC, there are a few threads if I recall that will answer your question.

If it were me I would wait a bit and order the all-new 4 Series that is coming.

I don't know about that.

It all depends on how a person feels about giant grilles...

Beauty is only skin deep.

Here's my take: I've been in the car business some 33 years now. It NEVER fails that as styles evolve, many are not warmly received initially, only to become fans' all-time favorites later.

Human perception is very interesting. Novel stimuli look strange at first, until our eyes habituate to them...

i have a '14 428i coupe and I love it. Gets plenty of looks too! Drive one and see what you think though that would be best.

Purchased a 2014 428i Coupe in Nov. 2019. Absolutely love it. Plenty of power but will be moding in the near future. Some times I feel maybe I should have considered the 435i with N55 I six engine. But in the end I am quite satisfied with 428i. Good luck in your purchase travels.

Mein Auto: 2016 435i xDrive GC
A few months ago I sold my beloved 2006 Volvo V70R with 183k miles, and got a 2016 CPO 435i xdrive gran coupe. (Northern Vermont, so need the xdrive.) I love driving it, and nice to have the hatch, even though it's not a wagon. Great for loading XC skis. IMO much better looking than the wagon or especially the GT. Hope I'm not offending too many of you.
By the way, my "summer toy" is a 1974 Lotus Europa TCS, currently being rebuilt.

I have had my 430i for about a week and am in love with it. feels super quick and nible. I think you will probably notice a bit of a size difference coming from a 5 series though.

I got my 18 440 vert in 9/2017 in Snapper Rocks and love it. It goes like hell and is smooth as silk to drive. See if you can swing the 440 instead of the 430. it's a different animal and you only go around once in life!

Just got a 430ix gran coupe with the m-sport package maybe 3-4 mo the ago. It's actually the first bmw I've ever owned an I'm extremely happy with it. The rear hatch fits absolutely everything, managed to get 3 snowboards in through the middle seat, plus bags and such. Get so many compliments on the car. The rear headroom is lacking but legroom is fine. I've had friends back there around 4'10 no problem. Anyone over that is gonna have to slouch. Plenty quick for me, might even flash BM3 in the future as run bolt ons to get some more out of it

We have a 2017 430i xDrive GC (F36) and love it. It has been a great car with no squawks. In the 3 years it has required only normal maintenance - oil changes and brake fluid flush.

Have 36k miles on a '17 440GC. Runs beautifully, handles well, tight from day 1. Still brings me joy. Added JB4, but even w/o is great.
