Do the newer BMW cars have a catalytic conv that is easily stolen?

Is there a bracket to make it difficult for thieves?

Apparently it takes a few minutes to take it out and it's worth $200 for the precious metals.

Many are up in the engine compartment now, closer to the engine so they heat up and start working sooner after a cold start-up. But, most are under the car. A jack and a saw, and your converters are good to go.

Newtis.info (bootleg BMW shop manual) lists the F30's cat' converter as being up with the exhaust manifold. RealOEM.com (parts guide) shows the same. So, they'd have probably have to get the hood open to steal you cat'.

I used to have some work in the UK. Gas is expensive enough there that thieves would get around the locking gas doors by jacking the car up and draining the gas tank.

Cats get stolen in my area as well. Most thieves will target trucks and SUV's as they are easier to crawl underneath to cut them off. You should be fine with a 3 series as it is low to the ground.

Maybe it's time to move? If you're in one of those stupid cities or state's where nothing gets done and everyone is told to "come on in" and we'll give you free stuff and a slap on the wrist if you're caught , the thieves have nothing to worry about. Really sad with what's happening out there! The dummies better be careful with what they wish for.

Bmw cats arnt really that easy to take, most are either bolted right to the turbo which makes it a pain to get or car is too low to get. the only cats they can probably get too are the secondary cats on e90s
