330 cic tires

Can anyone tell me about the tires offered with the 330 cic w/sport package? I have a friend who received Bridgestone tires on his 328 a few years ago, and didn't like them too much.

Does BMW offer various tires and/or can one choose?

Are there any differences in the tires offered for US Delivery as opposed to Euro Delivery in Munich?

Thanks.

I would assume you will get Continental ContiSport Contacts. They are lousy tires.
Unfortunately, there's no way for you to choose, you might get better tires, but maybe not.

My tire choice for a convertible would probably be the Dunlop SP Sport 9000s. The handling is a bit mushy, but they are VERY quiet, a valuable feature on a convertible.

You will likely get Continental ContiSports, but if you are lucky Pilot Sports are possible...

I think the 3 brands fitted to 330 SP cars are still Conti, Dunlop and Michelin. No, you don't have a choice.

But if the car shows up and you'd prefer another brand, talk to your salesman; if there is another 330 or two unsold on at that dealer with another brand of SP tires, you might get 'em to switch, or if they are unwilling to do that, you might try sweetening the deal with a hundred bucks.

In my case, there was no other car to swap with. I later mentioned this to my salesman and he said he would have been happy to accomodate me if I had mentioned it and if there had been another car on the lot to swap with.

Can one request a specific tire for Euro Delivery? (Since the car will have been driven, I doubt a switch could occur at pick up in the states)....

After I drove my car for about 9K miles, and noted to my salesman that other got Pilot Sports while I got Contis, and we both paid the same amount, he said if I had told him I wanted Pilots when the car first came in, he would have gotten them for me free of charge. I guess he would of just swapped them with the tires/wheels from another 330i.

maybe it wouldn't hurt to ask what they can do for you.

My May'01 production 330cic came with Pilots.

I've ground them to nubs over 21k miles. Need new tires, and was going to re-shoe my baby with Pilots again, but all the discussion of Potenza S03's has me in a quandry. Just how much louder are they than the pilots?

Dave

I guess I don't drive hard enough....my pilots have 15k on them and still look like new. They're louder than a tin can full of marbles though.

Thanks! I'm surprised to hear it since I'm running 19s and it's lowered. I was just waiting for the backlash from the new sig.

No hard top....doesn't get cold enough where I'm at so I like to be able to drop it on rare sunny winter days.
