2007 BMW X3 2.D good buy?

My girlfriend is looking at a specific 2007 2.0D X3, the car seems to drive pretty well with no warning lights but there's a section on the lower center console which doesn't seem to work, none of the buttons light up or seem to respond.

Also if you start the car in reverse or put it in reverse as you start the car the rear PDC works, after that nothing, nor front or back work.

Still can't find any info on that specific "panel", does someone know the actual name for that section?

Take a look at realoem.com

Are your talking about the console switch panel?

If the diesels are like their gas counterparts, start with battery voltage and bad engine grounds. When battery voltage gets low, some items may get powered down.

Driveshaft may be another area to check, if you can look at the ujoints, if they are covered in rust, more inspection is needed.

I've highlighted it in the picture above.

Great thank you, I did think it may be battery related but seems unlikely the entire panel wouldn't respond

Might just be a bad switch panel.

What do you mean, if you start in reverse you hear the PDC work, then nothing?

The way the system works. It's activated when going into reverse. Stays on if your in reverse or go into first gear as long as your below a certain speed at which after you reach maybe 20km/hr the system turns off.

What kind of dash is that? Is that a little nav screen? I like that steering wheel!

The steering wheel is a standard sport package wheel.
I'm very curious about the radio as well. It looks like a stock brochure photo from a 2010 model.

What I like about the wheel you can see the extra padding and its the newer style leather vs. what my 08 X3 has.

I mean I just used this pic to show the bottom panel, I'm sure for advertising reasons they've used a fully equipped model with M extras haha.

It also has an alcantara armrest.

The headlight switch includes a rear foglight button, speedometer is in kilometers and the radio knobs have the metal trim rings so it must have been a European press photo for a 2010 model.
