Bypass Heater Core

I live in Texas and was just gifted with a 2003 Z4 Roadster 2.5i. It is a work in progress. The AC is fully charged and the compressor is working fine but I am getting really hot air with the heat on and medium warm air with the AC on. I believe I am having an issue with the blend doors and I don't have the money to fix right now. I would like to install shut off valves to the heater core because right now I don't need heat, and probably won't for 90% of the time I drive. Any helpful tips? Which shut off valves to use? Which hose on the reservoir goes to the heater core? Thanks for the help!

What happens when you start the car up from cold, i.e. before the car has a chance to make any heat? Does the a/c get cold then? If not, it is likely an a/c problem, not your blend doors or heater.
