Do you own a diesel powered BMW? Maybe a 335d or a BMW x35d? Come and talk about what makes your car great!

328d to 535d upgrade?

My 328d lease ends in March. Since BMW isn't selling diesels any longer I am not interested in buying a new BMW.

I may pick up a used 535d. Am I correct that I will get a slightly larger ride with a smoother engine and a lot more torque? Are the 5-series diesels generally reliable?

535d would be on my list if something tragic were to happen to my X5.
Few posts reporting problems from 535d people which is generally a good indicator. Doesnít seem to suffer from the same emission issues as the 335d and E70 X5d, but itís also second gen emissions system and N57 rather than M57.

Yes, yes, and yes. March should give you plenty of time to find the right car, just identify what you want and be ready to pounce. IMO if you have to overpay to get what you want, thats among the best lose-wins ever. In the meantime go shop around some local dealers and make some connections with a Client Advisor. Drive a 5 series diesels, and maybe a 550or other that has most or all options. Drive home in your 328, realize that most of the ticket options are also available on the 3 series. You have significant history with the F30; so a few miles of something clearly larger, cushier, and more powerful and going back to your F30 for a few days you'll have a better idea where to land.

To me there is no question. I drove my wife's '14 535xd over the weekend for the first time in a while and really liked it again. I'm driving my f15 x5 35d most of the time I'm not driving the ///M. The f10 is a joy and quicker than the ///M with lots more comfort.

If I could, I'd like the upgraded iDrive on the f15 put into the f10.
