See, I never understood how "plastics" = more expensive. Plastics are damn cheap to manufacture, even specialty plastics in weird shapes.
Just another excuse to jack up prices.

Really, you think so? I included the roof shot because there were warped spots where it looked like the roof had buckled. Is that fixable?
I'm hoping that it's all repairable.

Naw, sorry man, I was just trying to make you feel better.
Looks like frame (yes, unibody and all that) damage, and that's a bear to get right. Maybe a bit mechanical (suspension/tie-rods, etc.), definitely a lot of body panels. This won't be cheap.

The shop it's at has one of those Car-o-liners for frame damage, think that would put it back in the running for fixability?

Hard to say just looking at exterior pictures, and I'm surely not an expert.

Your car's bleeding.....pray that it gets totaled. Then buy one of those "stripped down" 2010/11s that everyone is complaining about.
![]() Afterwards you'll see it on cars.com (out of state) with it being described as having been in a "fender bender" for $17,700...... ![]()

![]() Here are the links to the two prospective new whips. I wanna hear some input on price, and such. Really really reallyyy leaning towards the first link, '06 330i, white w/terra http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?paId=335311670 And the other runner up, an '07 328i, exact same options as my old car, only with IDRIVE!! http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?paId=340864546 Since my last car didn't have it, i'm pretty sure I could live without it in the 330i (esp, having that extra 45hp) But, the 328i sure does look nice, and the convenience and wow factor of idrive are pretty impressive.

Is it buggy? or just not that aesthetically pleasing?

I wouldn't say it's buggy. It's just a fairly plain-jane system. Finding your way around can take some time. Live traffic feature isn't all its cracked up to be. Ipod interface is decent however.

After a wreck like that you WANT the car to get totalled. I don't care how good the shop is, the car will never be the same. If they do fix it remember to have the insurance company pay you for the depreciation amount....your car will sell for quite a bit less then if you never wrecked it.
BTW - i personally think you should replace your sig picture with the new one. At the very least before/after shots ![]()

@furby:
Couldn't figure out how to attach both pics, so ya'll get the terrible after shot. Still waiting to hear when the ins. adjuster is gonna be comin to look at it. I think they're gonna see the airbags, and the buckled roof and call it at that.

gt, it doesn't look good. The sunroof picture looks troubling on its own, and the front shots are some MAJOR damage. I agree with furby that you probably want this one to be totalled, it'll never be the same again.
Sorry for your loss -- hope you find a nice replacement soon. ![]()

'Twang, if you hit hard enough to cause some rippling in roof sheet metal things are looking better for you and worse for the car. Your unibody is designed with a front crumple zone to protect the main compartment. If the forces got transmitted into the center area chances are it's a total. The deciding factor is going to be how much damage your engine and transmission suffered.

Wherever the bumper brace is now, is a lot further forward than when you hit the tree. The bumper brace is very springy and is made that way to absorb energy. It is possible you drove the brace right into the engine which then took the brunt of the shock absorption.

Good point, hopefully i'll be finding out more info later today/tomorrow.
I'm actually looking forward to it being totaled... Each day my list gets longer and longer of potential 330i's and 328i coupes.

Car is totaled! Made an exorbitant amount of money off of it, surprisingly.
Should be hopping into my new 330i next week. All I have to do is decide between these two cars, and I want 'festers to help me choose! This car below is the exact same as my 325, only its a 330, leaning towards this one with 2k less miles for 19,900, AND i can take out my euro armrest from the old one and put it into this badboy http://www.motorsourceinc.com/detail...n-4794642.html White with Terra leather, located in texas 42,xxx miles for 19,800 I am just absolutely in love with the interior leather on this... http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?paId=335311670 So basically the choice is between Barrique ext. or Terra int. I know only i can decide and it's based on what I like and all that jazz, I'm just looking for some outside opinions.
