I think that's correct. Mine almost looks like a flat Laguna Seca without the metal flake and clear.

Thanks Ron, but I'm not sure that I understand correctly...

In engine & luggage compartement, the doccument says that is a filler matching the body color... If I'm right, it's supposed to be the exterior body paint without metallic pigments & clear coat?

Don't know. Never looked into it.
Call BMWNA and the Factory to see if there is a code for what you want.

I always wanted to paint the engine bay in exterior paint.
Only part I got to was the bottom of the hood.

I had the local paint shop use their device to match the engine compartment paint color for my black car . It got it close, but the paint guy had to fudge it a bit to dial it in.

I still have to get the same done for the gray car, as Daniel wants some paint too...

the hood in my car looks closer to laguna seca blue than estoril...so I've noticed exactly what you are talking about OP.

See the paragraph 1.2, Special Procedures: hood and trunk are kept closed during the paint process, no base or clear laquer so a body filler is used.

I've asked the question to my dealer few weeks ago and he don't know which color the engine bay is. He says that he can call BMWNA to see if they can help us...

Today, he call me at the office, he said that the engine's bay color is the exterior paint code whitout clear coat.

In couple of weeks, I will go to the local paint shop to see if they can scan the paint an give me some paint code to mix this paint and see if he can match it.

Never made the connection till I read this post. My engine bay is a very shiney black while the exterior is black metalic. Wish the exterior shined like the underside of my hood.

I'm pretty sure it's the same as the exterior color except without clear coat.
