auto dimming headlights

Hi,

i have a 2015 Xi 28i. The auto dimming on my headlights works perfectly at times but at others it doesn't dim the headlights at all. I've been to the dealer twice. They check computer codes and say everything works as designed. Has anyone else had a similar problem? if so, how was it resolved? Thanks

Auto dimming headlights

I just found this web site and forum. My X1 (2013 x drive i28) has the auto dimming headlights.

If you read the owners manual, there are times when the auto dimming will not work. But, in general the auto feature will work while on a highway, road, etc. If I turn into the private road I I've on, the auto dimming will stop working. That is about the only place it does not work. I can't figure out why, so I just go back to manual mode and live it with. This is an awesome feature and makes this car such a pleasure to drive.

Yard lights, reflective surfaces, concrete drive, anything that is bright.
