F10 M5 (2012 - 2016)
The 5th generation M5 has the V8 S63 TU engine with twin turbos under the hood producing 550hp. The engine and DCT gear box pusses the M5 0-60 in just 4.2 seconds.

New to the X5M - Seeking advise!!!

Guys,Gals,

I've been a long time fester with my E46 330I ZHP that I've owned and loved for the past 10 years. We'll, my parents have a cherry 2013 X5M with 8K miles they are selling me for an absolute steal that I can't ignore. The car is mint and had all the limited service it need in that few of a miles and still smells brand new. My question is, I'm new to this platform and I'm extremely versed in turning a wrench as I've worked on all my own vehicles my whole life from Domestic to foreign to the BMW. Here are some questions:

What should I look out for in the first 20K miles?
What oil should I use for this motor and how much - Mobile 1 0W-40's what I've always used in the E46?
Any recommended places for parts and maintenance items?
According to the BMW recc maintenance - they say to replace the fuel filter every 15K miles, is this the norm?

Any other recommendations I'd greatly appreciate it and I'll post up a pic of the car once we finalize the sale and transfer in the next few weeks. I've got to take it to the dealer for the Airbag recall first - LOL.

If you have a 2013 X5M...that is either an E70 or F85 BMW SAV model nomenclature. This is the F10 M5 (5 series sedan) forum. .

You will probably get a better response if you go to the e70 or f85 X5M forums (when you figure out which generationi X5M it is).

Thank you and I'm still trying to get the series sorted out as I've been stuck on E46 for a long time. It's an E70 and I'll post it over there.

Just remember, low mileage is great but old gaskets and old o-rings are still old gaskets and old o-rings. Keep an eye out for leaks but enjoy the great ride.
