You will be OK as long as you stay with the standard sizes called out in your owners manual. Page 216. 18" to 21". Happy hunting. Our '15 F15 came with the 18" & we are now running the offset 20"

This is called "plus sizing"...and any decent tire website explains this in detail to help educate anyone on how to go about it.

Here's some examples:

  2. https://www.discounttire.com/learn/plus-sizing

You might want to keep in mind as you go up tire prices increase, and choices become fewer.

Depending on where you live, you can make the 18s your cold/bad weather set.

Yes, if you go with the specified wheel offsets (ET) as shown in your owners manual. See the post with pic of owners manual above.

I have 20" staggered black set with Pirelli snow and ice winter tires that I'm selling for $2500 if you are interested.

The 55-series that comes in the smaller rim is barely adequate, the side wall is too short already, I can't imagine wanting to go to a bigger wheel and even lower profile. Every pothole and RR crossing is a potential blow out / bent rim. It's an SUV, not M5... 40-series on SUVs look ghetto and emasculate the vehicle's ability to handle adverse conditions, including going off road, if necessary. Do not get this trend at all.

I hear where you're coming from. But who are you criticizing, owners or BMW? Because those tire aspects are stock sizes.
