Auto boot open

Hi all. Just returned to the fold. I had a 5GT previously and then moved into a Q5 for 2 years (which i hated!!). Now back with a nice new 6GT which i must say im loving

Question for you. i Have the keyless entry system. But should i get the feature where you waggle your foot under the boot and the tailgate opens automagically? Or is this included in some other pack that im missing?

tia

Rusty

On my VIN, it is not listed at all so it is probably a standard feature, possibly within Comfort Access. From my experience, standard features vary greatly from country to country.
The motion is like gently kicking a soccer ball without touching the car. My cars have always required a central kick. I don't recall any iDrive settings to disable the feature.

Had a play around with it over the weekend and it seems that I do have the feature. Its not very responsive though and i look like a bit of a plank kicking the hell out of the underside of the car until it decides to open. Easier to just push the button i think

I felt the same the first week I had the car, then found "the trick". Unlike others where you wag your foot, the 6er just wants you to do a quick "in and out". Try standing in the middle of the car, move your foot straight forward under the bumper, then straight back out. Since learning this easy action I use it all the time & it works perfectly every time.

It is possible that there are obstructions under your car. Several owners of F10s had gravel wedged under there from travelling on unpaved roads.
The motion has to be fairly fluid and not a hard in/out.
This winter I was shovelling snow around the car. The tailgate suddenly went up when I pushed some snow under the car. I only did that once.

As has been said, straight kick in and out motion. Same for all BMWs and my 6GT never misses a beat, opens every time.

I've had this on my last two 5 series and love it. Especially when you come to your car with both hands carry an item such as a case of wine.
