M340i and potholes?

Dear All,

I am currently leasing a BMW 230 xdrive 2017 and it has been a nightmare, since I live in Canada and we have huge potholes everywhere. I had 4 flats (Cinturato P7 - Run Flat) in the first year even though I am very careful when I drive...

Recently, I have tried the new BMW M340i 2020 and I liked it very much. However, I would hate to lease this car and have the same troubles with flats and potholes.

I was thinking about leasing the car with the following wheels:
Front: 225/40 R19 and Rear: 255/35 R19.
FYI: Apparently, they are the smallest wheels available at my dealership.

Do you think it will be more durable than the setup that I have on my 2 Series?

Otherwise, I might consider the X3 40i...

Thank you very much,

Get rid of the run flats. They are the worst when it comes to potholes and when you hit one, it will put a bubble in the tire and it's no good from there. I get rid of mine when I purchase and go on Amazon and get a kit and join AAA. Its a smoother ride also and you will tell the difference immediately. Just my two cents, I'm sure others will chime in on their experience.

I have had the same problem with my '17 540i run flats with 20" rims. Bent two on separate occasions and popped two tires this past winter. Has me concerned for this coming winter in Ohio so I am going to try a set of 4 winter tires i have mounted on 18" 2003 BMW rims. Hoping this combination doesn't cause clearance and offset issues.

Based on my own experience with my M235 with 225/40/18 all-season run-flats, I think the wheels and tires you're contemplating for your lease will be a prescription for disaster. Having had to replace three tires in a six-week span over the summer (two on one pothole!), and three others in the three years prior, I am swearing off low profile run-flats. Of course compounding the problem is that nobody seems to stock run-flats, so depending on where you are when you hit something, it can be a real bummer. Good luck.

Hope you haven't bought those wheels yet, as they won't fit your car. The G30 has a different bolt pattern than E and F series BMW's
