Brakes and r'otors for 2009 335i

Hey All--

Looking for new brake pads and rotors for my '09 335i. Current pads from previous owner generated a ton of brake dust and would really like to avoid that this time around.

I'm not a race car driver and am looking for a good bang for the buck option instead of a crazy high end pad and rotor that would be used for routine rallying.

Any thoughts on what to get and places to find best pricing is much appreciated!

Brakes and r'otors for 2009 335i

If brake dust is your enemy and you want good performance then Akebono is you brand. With Zimmerman rotors.

The LCI models use a different formulation of brake pad than the pre-LCI cars, and these pads dust far, far less! (I have BMW ownership since 1976-to-present to base my comments about BMW brake dust issues!) These new pads will fit into pre-LCI cars, as a Bimmerfest member had retrofit their pre-LCI and confirmed via post on Bimmerfest after I originally (years ago) noted the new pads had far less dust.

+1. Zimmerman makes good quality rotors at a reasonable price. Akebono are almost dust free but Pagid and Textar also have good options.

Very helpful as usual on this forum. Thank you everyone for your thoughts!

I went with the Zimmermann / Akebono kit from FCP Euro for $455.00 plus tax and free shipping. Lifetime warranty if you need to replace anything for any reason...you just pay shipping. Not bad. Again--Big thanks for all the thoughts.

Be aware that with Akebono you will have much softer pedal and delayed reaction. If you want to know how it feels, try average Toyota.

end of the day no pad has that confidence inspiring bite like oem. Get oem lci or pre lci. For brakes dust I use wheel wax (available on amazon). Normal rim cleaning carwash will blow that brake dust away with wheel wax..
