Search for my and others' old posts on how to find/make switched power for dashcams, etc.

So after a couple of days sitting waiting for the shocks to come in...i fire up the 06 X3 start to drive and fine the head lights are slow to come on. As I drive and then break...the head lights go out. With each subsequent breaking the lights go out!

My problem is...
A) alternator is bad
B) weak battery
C) gas pump soon to go out

Sounds like A & B are your problem. Charge up battery and test it to see if it's holding a charge. Also hook up volt meter to see if you're outputting 14 volts.
My '05 was draining the battery if left unused for a week or so. Got out the volt meter to measure parasitic drain... (it shouldn't be reading more than 50 milliamps). Found out the circuit associated with the panoramic sun roof was draining power. Removed that fuse (as I don't use the sunroof) and problem solved. Well worth the time to track it down.

Ive now started to take each batt to aa or az for a days charging if needed. If there are any problems with any car the winter will expose them starting with a weak battery. I learned this from my years living in Milw. But now in the south....i still do it just out of habit.

Lugging a battery around to a FLAPS for charging doesn't seem like much fun to me... why not just get a good charger for the home and use it w/o having to remove the battery?
