Comfort Access Query

I have just replaced my door carrier in an attempt to fix a non-responsive left rear door handle (coupled with high battery drain). I found a new-in-box carrier on eBay at a good price, and had my local guy replace it today. Unfortunately, it's business as usual, and touch-to-open still doesn't work on that door. Is there anything to be done in ISTA/INPA when changing out a door carrier for Comfort Access? I was assuming it was just a plug-and-play replacement. I hate to think that this new part might be faulty. By the way, this is the second door carrier I'm replacing to fix Comfort Access. I had the driver's door carrier replaced (with a used eBay part) a couple of years ago, soon to be followed by this issue cropping up.

Out may need to be coded to your car's VIN, but I am not 100% sure on that

I wasn't thinking there would be any coding involved, but there probably is a small module in the door that stays awake when the car goes to sleep so that it knows when to power on the inductive antenna in the door to tell the key transponder to broadcast when you touch the door. I attached a Comfort Access document I found online somewhere to this thread the other day and perhaps it's helpful, though it doesn't talk about coding.

Thanks. That document was helpful.....it basically says you need to initialize/reset CA and CAS if changing door handle electronics.

Good news! CA is finally working on all doors again.....3 years after the problem first surfaced. My local guy took another stab at it with his new scan tool and was able to reset the modules. He's not a "BMW Guy", but is quite persistent and resourceful.
