$298 installed??

OK so I have a 2013 35xi...
Interstate Batteries [after I took pics and sent them to the rep] $298 installed.
Is the "12" "12" the in service date of the battery? The original battery?
Anybody have any insight as to where I might be able to get a better deal? This sure isn't my old E39

Best deal I found a yeAr agi was at the dealer. I installed and registered though. Ten to fifteen minute job.

Quick call to my local Interstate Battery dealer described to me where they typically put the date code. It's normally a 5 digit date code starting with the letters A through L and a four digit number following that on the edge of the post side of the battery. Normally near the positive he said. So you're probably going to have to disconnect the positive side and lift the terminal to reveal the date code if that's where it's at on your battery. He said they typically only need the Letter and first number. The letter gives you your month and the number gives you your year of manufacture. Such as "A9" Would be January of 2019, or 2009. This was all according to interstate battery.

Let us know your findings. Good luck!

Advance Auto Parts using an online coupon and buy online, pickup in store, will probably be your lowest price. You'll need to install and register yourself. Your car has an AGM type battery, get the same as the replacement. Battery registration doesn't have to be coincident with replacement...that is, you don't need to do it immediately or bad things happen.

From your advice this is exactly what I did. $172 out the door after refund of core and 15% OFF SAVINGS.

Today however looks like they're offering 20% OFF. I've been kicking myself ever since I missed a 25% OFF. Ugh

OP got a price of 298 from interstate..

the pictures are the batt that is in the car...likely an OE battery, not an interstate.

Just a wag

298 and they register the CPU? Betcha they dont know about that....

OE is Original Equipment aka 'BMW Original Parts' aka 'What you buy at the BMW dealer with a BMW label'

OEM is Original Equipment Manufacturer... EITHER the company that made the OE part or.... A part this is identical to the OE part, but is sold by the OEM under their own label

OEM is not what BMW sells

Then purchasing your own battery, and tool, to register it will come out to less than the single battery purchase from Interstate Battery it would seem.

Kinda up to you

Make sure you hook up the battery vent. Aftermarket batteries may have vent holes on each side of the battery and require you to plug the other side vent.

I once had a voltage regulator fail on a VW beetle. Noticed my headlights were fantastic, but my throat and eyes were itchy....Battery overcharged, blew off the vent caps- inside the car under the backseat. Took me a day to figure it out....

Of course they did not. You are talking to people whose only job is to sell car and motorcycle batteries.

These cars are sensitive to battery state of health. Buy a new proper battery.

What is it with penny pinchers? Two in one day... Can't wait to see what happens when the bill is 4 digits.

Years ago I was interested in beekeeping, then I learned the difference between beekeeping and bee-having. Bee-havers buy queens every year.

I got brand new OE battery installed, registered by BMW dealer for $300 all inclusive.

But then I was never a penny pincher or penny wise :P
