Hose?

Just bought a 2002 E53 4.4i. While doing some basic maintenance I noticed a hose that comes from under the intake manifold that is not connected to anything. Not the only thing I have found on this car that wasnt connected or put together. Can anyone tell me what it is and where is it supposed to go. Or is it some type of breather hose.

Is it rubber or something soft or is it hard plastic. If it's hard, it's likely the differential breather tube. It doesn't connect to anything.

It is very soft. You can squeeze it easily.

This is what I found. I guess whoever owned car before me replaced the pipe with this.
