2010 328i...RIP

It is with a heavy heart that I announce my 2010 328i has passed away. Transmission is shot. I'm not sure what the market is for parts or if anyone is interested in taking on what is now a fixer-upper. I'd hate to scrap it since it is in otherwise decent condition (radiator needs replacing as well). That was a fun car to drive...

Stick it on autotrader or Craigslist. Someone will buy it for parts or to fix it

Not sure how bad the transmission is, but I've heard of fixing some with either new solenoids or a rebuilt mechatronics assembly - a lot less expensive than a whole new transmission. If the miles aren't too high, someone might enjoy diving into some DIY repair.

Tranny is shot

according to the good folks at Fields BMW in Orlando. I'll put it up for sale and keep my eye on a 535i one day.

Fields BMW is also the same dealership that wanted $4200 to replace all 6 injectors in my 2007 335i when an indy BMW mechanic did it for 1100 using brand new index 12 injectors...I wouldn't give up just yet.

Dealerships' standard operating procedure is to declare the tranny totalled when it needs a $15 seal.
NEVER take an out-of-warranty car to the dealership for anything other than recalls.
Find a reputable indy.

If you are in the Orlando area, see if you can get your car towed up to Wilson's BMW repair near Daytona Beach. Good indy shop that I had work done at.

FWIW, I use the dealer for many repairs, and I'm completely outside of warranty. I can barely even do recalls because the dealer is in another country.

From my own experience, if you go in and the shop/dealer thinks you know nothing, you'll get the full treatment. This is especially true if you're a woman.

OP, does your car run? Does it go thru the gears in manual mode. You didn't say what is going on.

I was at work and had it towed to the dealership. I runs, well it did before I took it in to have it looked at. They drained the transmission fluid (not a full flush) and then the brake-park interlock sensor went bad (how, I don't know) and now you can't put it into gear. It ran in both automatic and manual mode prior to me taking it in. There was just a low-speed (18-2200 rpm range) shudder. I think they broke something.

Take it to a independent shop and have it looked at.
