x5 window switch not working

hi all new user,

Had a look on here first, but cant see the problems I am having

I have a problem with my 2009 x5 window switch, I started the car last week and got a message on the screen, lights/indicators or windows not working. when driving my interior lights were flashing along with spedo lights and hazard warning light switch. tried hazard they did not work and window switch on drivers side did not work, time I got to work all is ok apart from drivers door switch, it does not work mirrors or windows, all other door switches work.

I have checked the fuse in passenger fuse box, got a new switch for drivers side still nothing. is there an other fuse that I can check

Please help as it is driving me mad

Lights and windows and a plethora of stuff go through the notorious Footwell Module - FRM - subject to an ELW extended warranty.

'tis the season for dying batteries. Not sure where you live (there is a reason for that my location thing) but a failing battery will cause some crazy issues.

I'd make sure the battery is serviceable before going after the FRM at the dealer. Not that FRM is not suspect, but you don't want to pay a $150 - $200 diag fee if you just need a new battery.

Was the new battery programmed into the car? Do you remember if AGM or what type?

Sure. As you can see, the FRM is complicated and we don't get to see the internal circuitry. Its function that usually concerns us owners is as a collection of electronic circuit-breakers that are self-resetting for a limited specified number of times.

I can't know if the high-short circuit current protection function is causing your issues. You asked if there is a common point for many problems. Yes, the FRM.

I believe that only a capable and willing dealership can properly diagnose.
