X5 parking brake stuck on!!! HELP ME PLEASE!

So... the mrs put the wrong fuel in the car, it cut out 100 yards away from the fuel station. She didn't realise what she had done so carried on trying to start the car until the battery went dead! Called the A wrong fuel company who came and sorted the wrong fuel issue and got the car running..... However, the car now has an amber p (the handbrake light) and is unable to release the parking brake. Tried the manual release and tried all reset options and it has done nothing. Had it plugged in to clear codes and still nothing. Had it recovered to a local garage (the recovery guy had to put back wheels on skidder plates as the wheels are locked) who has said it's a BMW specialist job. Any ideas guys?

Not understanding the whole fuel issue but assuming it was labeled wrong the onus is still on the fuel company.

So you tried the emergency release (the one in the boot) and it didn't work? Tried pushing / pulling the button for 5 secs?

In Ista there is away to retract it if the actuator is working. Otherwise it can be removed, opened and manually rewound.

Strange - the power loss might have locked it, but it should release afterwards unless it was damaged in transit.

I was thinking along the same lines which to me means the car is running but not fully fixed, so back to where the damage was caused.
