Oil Drain Plug - Metal or Plastic?

I have a 2016 428i F33 N26 VIN Number WBA3V7C54G5A25463.

Without jacking up the car, how do I know if I have the plastic or metal oil drain plug?

Thanks in advance

What makes you think there are both? Mine is plastic and that's what comes with the filter as well.

Nothing wrong with asking!
My F33 is the 435i and uses a metal plug. But the 428 is a different engine; I donít know about it.

Welcome to Bimmerfest, davidwbeitz! Based on the VIN decode, your F33 428i has rear wheel drive which means it should use a plastic drain plug.

Wasn't meant to a pointed question . There is just info out there that some of us don't know about and it is good to educate ourselves. Was wondering if there was info out there that the later N26 / N20 engines had switched to metal plug. Thanks for the responses!

I thought Xdrive cars had metal drain plugs & RWD used plastic plugs.

I thought the plastic pans got the plastic drains. You can check if BMW's recommended oil filter kit for your car includes a new drain plug.

Not necessarily. I have seen plastic plugs in metal pans. In general 335 and x drive vehicles have metal plugs the others have plastic
